Hojlund was United’s worst player agaisnt PAOK, Amorim won’t be happy

Manchester United returned to winning ways on Thursday night with a 2-0 victory over PAOK.

The Red Devils were unconvincing at both ends of the pitch, but they prevailed with a much-needed victory in the Europa League.

The club picked up three points from their opening three games in the league phase, and the win has boosted their top-eight prospects.

Amad Diallo grabbed the headlines with two well-taken goals. He opened the scoring with a good header before grabbing his second with a superb curler.

The rest of the attack had a forgettable outing, including Rasmus Hojlund, who was pretty poor.

The £54 million-rated star had just four passes and 16 touches in 89 minutes. He won just four out of nine duels contested against the Greek outfit.

Hojlund will remain United’s main man up front, but he needs a massive improvement to keep his starting spot under new manager Ruben Amorim.

There was limited service in the final third, but Hojlund should have fared better against much-weaker opposition compared to Chelsea last weekend.

The 21-year-old missed out on another big opportunity to impress before Amorim’s arrival.

Hojlund should keep his place under the Portuguese tactician, but things must improve or he could be dropped.

Joshua Zirkzee’s poor form has worked in his favour, but he will undoubtedly want to capitalise on Hojlund’s shortcomings to reclaim a starting berth.
