Manchester United have suffered another massive setback ahead of their Europa League clash with Fenerbache tomorrow.
Man United have confirmed that Jonny Evans is doubtful after picking up a knock against Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday.
Evans started alongside Matthijs de Ligt in the heart of the defence. The veteran played a solid role at the back.
However, he came off in the 89th minute, with Victor Lindelof replacing him.
Injuries have started to hamper Erik ten Hag’s team selection.
Harry Maguire is already sidelined for a few weeks. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are long-term absentees.
Noussair Mazraoui underwent a heart procedure and did not start against the Bees. He came on as a substitute in the added time.
Leny Yoro suffered a foot injury during the pre-season game with Arsenal in the United States.
He has yet to make his competitive debut for United. On the positive side, the youngster has returned to individual training.
Ten Hag could have only three senior centre-backs available tomorrow – De Ligt, Lisandro Martinez and Lindelof.
Martinez played at left-back to allow Diogo Dalot to move to the right side of the defence last weekend.
If Ten Hag continues the Argentine in his makeshift role, De Ligt and Lindelof may team up centrally.
The Sweden international returned from his injury last month and is yet to be named in the starting XI this season.
Ten Hag also faces a massive challenge in finding a solution for the number 10 spot with Bruno Fernandes suspended.
This is an excellent opportunity for the Dutchman to test Joshua Zirkzee in that role.
