Man Utd have huge plans to sign £42m star who ‘can be one of the best in the world’

Manchester United hold an interest in signing one of Europe’s most promising strikers next summer.

The Red Devils bolstered their centre-forward department in the recent transfer window with the acquisition of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.

Zirkzee netted a late winner against Fulham on his debut, but he has failed to score since then.

Rasmus Hojlund has started the last two games ahead of Zirkzee following a pre-season injury, but he has also been inconsistent up front.

The Daily Mail claims United are interested in signing Benjamin Sesko, who is expected to leave RB Leipzig next summer.

United can make a huge statement with Sesko deal

The 21-year-old was on the radar of several Premier League clubs last summer, including United, but he ended up signing a new contract with Leipzig.

The £55 million release clause was removed from his contract as part of the deal, and Leipzig are now in a strong position to negotiate a higher package.

Sesko had a slow start to his career with Leipzig, but he was brilliant during the back end of last season. He finished with 18 goals and three assists.

The Slovenian has carried over his form this term with six goals and three assists from nine outings.

Sesko has Erling Braut Haaland’s strong finishing skills, but he also has several other good attributes.

He is capable of scoring long-range goals. The youngster has also impressed with his hold-up play and aerial presence in and around the opposition box.

The former Red Bull Salzburg man is also better with his distribution and likes to high press defenders.

Sesko can be one of the best in the world, and the Red Devils could make a statement by securing his services.

United’s chances of signing Sesko depend on whether they qualify for the Champions League and assure him of a regular place in the starting XI.

The asking price could be another possible stumbling block.

Transfermkt values Sesk at €50m (£42m), but Leipzig could easily hold out for €100m (£83m) if he scores 25-30 goals this season.
