Man Utd set to receive big injury boost in critical position

Manchester United are in line to receive a big defensive injury boost.

According to Dutch media outlet Voetbal International, Tyrell Malacia could return to action by the end of October.

The former Feyenoord defender suffered a knee injury that has kept him out of action for over a year.

He didn’t make a single appearance last season but was spotted in training last month.

Malacia’s return is a massive boost for Man United

The Red Devils played nearly the entire second half of last season without a specialist left-back.

Luke Shaw continues to be sidelined with an injury and is yet to feature this term.

Diogo Dalot has operated as a makeshift left-back, but his favoured position is on the other side of the defence.

There is uncertainty over the immediate involvement of Noussair Mazraoui after he underwent a minor heart procedure.

He withdrew from the recent international games due to the issue.

Malacia has had a long road to recovery, and United will likely ease him gradually into the team.

The 25-year-old could play a significant role after the turn of the year, especially given Shaw’s unreliability.

The England international is a superb full-back, but he has missed far too many games.

The Red Devils should sign a marquee left-back next summer to bolster their squad.

If Malacia remains fit and in top form for the rest of the campaign, he could be the first choice for that position.

However, this would be too much to expect from a player who has not played a game over the last 17 months.
