Defiant Erik ten Hag reveals ‘two-way communication’ with Man United players

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag insists he has retained the confidence of his players amid a challenging start to the season.

The Red Devils have been in poor form and hit a new low in their 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Ten Hag spoke about his knack for winning trophies.

He said: “We do this after every game. We sit together, we give our opinion and there is a two-way communication from the manager and coaches to the players and back.

“We are on one page and we make sure we are one page and we stay on one page.

“In the meantime, you have to win and I think we have proven in the last two years, and we win. And I’ve proven in my career that I always will win. The last six years I have eight trophies.

“That (target) is always winning trophies and finishing as high as possible in the league because that is definitely a very important purpose for us.”

Time is running out for Erik ten Hag

The United supporters knew they must be patient when the Dutchman was hired.

The hiring-and-firing policy has not taken the club any further over the past decade.

United fans have consistently voiced their belief that Ten Hag requires a solid structure, transfer market backing and time to forge a new era at Old Trafford.

With all three now in place, the expectation was that the team would start to gel and show promise. However, after losing five of their last ten games, that promise feels distant.

The harrowing defeat to Tottenham only amplified the frustration. The way the team capitulated raised eyebrows and intensified calls for accountability.

INEOS did a full review at the start of the campaign before concluding that Ten Hag is the best man for the job.

However, they could be forced to change if the current trajectory continues. The fans are desperate for signs of progress and they need them soon.
