Arsenal dealt fresh injury blow as midfielder is withdrawn against Bolton

Arsenal suffered another injury blow after versatile midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly was withdrawn during their Carabao Cup game against Bolton Wanderers at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

The 17-year-old started at left-back against the League One club and was substituted in the 62nd minute for Gabriel Magalhaes.

Lewis-Skelly made his professional debut for Arsenal at the weekend, coming on in the closing stages of the Premier League game against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

He was booked before he came on after relaying a message to David Raya to delay proceedings and was handed his first start tonight.

Arsenal strolled to a 5-1 victory against Bolton to book their place in the fourth round. Manager Mikel Arteta will hope the win has not come at the expense of the fitness of another player.

Martin Odegaard, Mikel Merino, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney are already sidelined.

Raya was excluded from the matchday squad against the League One club after picking up a knock against Man City.

Ben White played the pain barrier against Man City and was also not involved tonight, and Arteta will hope he is fit for the league game against Leicester City this weekend.

He was forced to play teenage goalkeeper Jack Porter against Bolton. Neto is cup-tied, having played in the competition this season, while Tommy Setford is injured.
