‘In consideration for every game’: Ten Hag lauds Man Utd winger for making ‘big progress’

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag praised Amad Diallo ahead of the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.

Ten Hag handed him the starting spot on the right flank ahead of Alejandro Garnacho, who missed pre-season due to international duties.

Speaking at the press conference before tomorrow’s game, the United boss lauded Diallo for making good progress.

He said (ManUtd.com): “He’s doing very well. I would say, I think, from January on, he has made big progress.

“Now, for every game, he’s a consideration. Also, for him, yeah, I hope he keeps going in this process, and he has some attributes that can really help a team.”

Diallo has bagged a goal and an assist in four league games.

While these numbers may not seem impressive, his performances are not fully reflected in the statistics.

The 22-year-old has made more progressive carries (23) from the right-wing spot than any other player in the English top flight.

Ousmane Dembele is the only player in Europe’s top five leagues with more progressive carries (25) than Diallo.

The Ivorian found it challenging to get opportunities at United, but his injury-time strike against Liverpool in the FA Cup last season turned his fortunes around.

He was an outstanding player in the 3-0 win over Southampton. Even though he registered a solitary assist, he made six key passes.

His passing accuracy was elite, misplacing only six passes out of 58.

The young winger must continue to perform at a high level to prevent other players from taking his starting spot.
