‘It’s very good news’: Erik ten Hag confirms huge injury boost for Crystal Palace game

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed a double injury boost ahead of the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The Red Devils ended a two-match losing streak last weekend with a 3-0 league win at Southampton. They followed it up with a 7-0 rout of Barnsley in the Carabao Cup third round.

United will now travel to south London for Saturday’s game against the Eagles. Speaking in his pre-match presser, the manager has confirmed some good news on the fitness front.

The Dutchman confirmed that Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund have returned to training this week.

He told reporters: “It’s very good news they are back in the pitch – they are back in team training.

“We have to decide whether they are fit enough to start [on Saturday] but it is very pleasing they are fit and back in the squad.”

The Red Devils are currently 10th in the league standings with six points. They have the opportunity to climb up the table with another win.

It won’t be easy, considering Palace will be determined to get a positive result. They have just two points from their first four games this season.

Oliver Glasner’s side did the double over United last season and United have to play at their best to secure maximum points from Selhurst Park on Saturday.

There should be wholesale changes from the midweek win over Barnsley.

Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, Noussair Mazraoui, Andre Onana, Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo are expected to make the starting XI.

Manuel Ugarte could make his full Premier League debut in the centre of the park. The Uruguayan star had a good game against Barnsley.

Mount and Hojlund may not be involved in the starting line-up, but they are in contention to make the matchday squad for the encounter.
