Confirmed Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Barnsley for Carabao Cup: Ten Hag makes eight changes

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made eight changes to the starting line-up for this evening’s Carabao Cup third-round tie against Barnsley at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League last weekend. Matthijs de Ligt, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were the goalscorers.

Ten Hag will now be eyeing another victory with home advantage. Ahead of tonight’s game, the Dutchman has made significant changes from the trip to Southampton.

Altay Bayindir makes only his second appearance in goal ahead of Andre Onana.

De Ligt and Lisandro Martinez have been replaced by Harry Maguire and Casemiro in central defence.

Jonny Evans looks set to feature from the left-back role. Noussair Mazraoui has dropped to the bench. Diogo Dalot will start on the right side of the back four.

Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes make way for Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer in midfield. The former is set to make his full home debut after arriving from Paris Saint-Germain.

Christian Eriksen will operate in the number 10 position tonight.

There are a couple of changes on the flanks, with Alejandro Garnacho and Antony occupying the wide attacking positions.

Marcus Rashford will lead the attack with Joshua Zirkzee on the bench.
