‘They are all available’: Erik ten Hag confirms triple injury boost for Man United vs Barnsley

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed a triple injury boost ahead of Tuesday’s Carabao Cup third-round tie against Barnsley at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils returned to winning ways with a 3-0 triumph at Southampton on Saturday. Matthijs de Ligt was named the man of the match after a superb all-round performance.

The Dutchman scored his maiden United goal with a fine header, but he was substituted in the closing stages. However, Ten Hag confirmed that De Ligt is in contention to play.

Noussair Mazraoui and Lisandro Martinez were substituted with knocks at the weekend, but the duo have also recovered from their respective concerns ahead of the Carabao Cup opener for United.

Ten Hag told reporters: “They are all available [Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez]. They are good.”

United had a nervous start at St Mary’s last weekend. They could have conceded the opening goal, but goalkeeper Andre Onana kept them level by denying Cameron Archer from the penalty spot.

The Red Devils grew in confidence after Onana’s heroics and went on to register a comfortable win.

Ten Hag is likely to make multiple changes for the midweek game against the Tykes at home.

Harry Maguire, Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro, Jonny Evans and Manuel Ugarte could all start, having come on as substitutes during the victory over the Saints.

Antony and Toby Collyer could also feature in the starting XI. Goalkeeper Altay Bayindir will also be hoping for a rare start between the sticks ahead of Onana.
