Erik ten Hag has another undroppable star after United win at Southampton

Manchester United are 10th in the Premier League table following a 3-0 victory at Southampton yesterday.

Andre Onana made a splendid save to deny Cameron Archer from the penalty spot, and this was followed by a convincing win.

Matthijs de Ligt, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were on the scoresheet, and there were plenty of other positive displays.

Lisandro Martinez was back at his best in central defence. He won 100 percent of his tackles and duels while completing 97% of his passes.

Amad Diallo was another bright spark in the game. The Ivorian got the nod over Alejandro Garnacho on the right wing and made a huge mark.

The 22-year-old registered the assist for Marcus Rashford’s goal before the break. This was one of six chances created by the talented winger.

Diogo Dalot and Christian Eriksen were the next highest with two apiece, while club captain Bruno Fernandes created a solitary chance.

Diallo also worked hard defensively. He won five duels and three tackles and made four successful recoveries. He also completed 90% of his passes at St Mary’s.

The Atalanta graduate capitalised on the opportunity handed by manager Erik ten Hag and is undroppable at the moment.

Garnacho scored in stoppage time after coming off the bench to replace Marcus Rashford, but the Argentine is at his best on the left wing.

Diallo deserves to keep his starting berth, given his current form.

United are in Carabao Cup action against Barnsley in the third round on Tuesday evening.
