Man United star dazzles in Morocco’s win on international duty

Morocco registered a convincing 4-1 win over Gabon in their opening game of the Africa Cup of Nations qualification.

Manchester United right-back Noussair Mazraoui played the whole game for Morocco and produced a superb defensive display.

The 26-year-old had 67 touches with a pass accuracy of 92 percent. He completed all of his long balls and won every tackle for the hosts.

The former Bayern Munich man also won six out of seven ground duels as the Atlas Lions cruised to a comfortable victory.

Morocco will now face Lesotho on the road on Monday night. Walid Regragui’s side are the clear favourites to register another three points.

Mazraoui is expected to feature in that game before returning to Manchester.

The right-back has had a good start to his United career. He had a solid debut against Fulham before registering an assist in the defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

He was caught out of position for the opening goal against Liverpool, although Casemiro was largely to blame after gifting possession straight to the Merseyside outfit.

Mazraoui will be keen to impress the manager with his performance at Southampton this weekend. It is already a must-win game for the Red Devils.

The club are four points adrift of the top four after just three league games. Anything less than a victory on Saturday will be considered a setback.

With left-back Luke Shaw not far from an injury return, Mazraoui will have to stand out in the coming games to keep his place ahead of Diogo Dalot at right-back.
