Arsenal respond as Saudi Pro League come calling for Trossard

Arsenal have responded after Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad submitted a proposal in the region of €35m for Leandro Trossard, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday morning that Al-Ittihad want to sign a new winger before the summer transfer deadline in the Middle East.

However, Arsenal turned down the verbal offer for Trossard yesterday.

Al-Ittihad were willing to pay a €5m loan fee and include an obligation to buy the forward for €20-25m.

Arsenal made it clear that the 29-year-old is not for sale at any price as he is a key part of manager Mikel Arteta’s squad and is currently on a long-term deal.

Ivan Toney recently moved to Saudi and will be earning around €950,000 per week, while the highest earner at Al-Ittihad, Karim Benzema, earns €1,923,000 per week.

Ngolo Kante makes €480,00 per week at the club, with Moussa Diaby and Fabinho earning €294,000 and €269,000, respectively.

Trossard currently earns €107,000 per week at Arsenal, and while Al-Ittihad could comfortably triple it, he prefers to remain with Arsenal for the time being.

He came off the bench to score the opener in the 2-0 victory at Aston Villa a fortnight ago.

Trossard has been an important player despite not starting regularly, with 19 goals and 12 assists to his name in 71 games since he moved from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023.
