Hammer blow for Man United as Fofana is ‘one step away’ from joining AC Milan

AC Milan are reportedly close to completing a deal for Manchester United target Youssouf Fofana.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 25-year-old is just ‘one step away’ from completing his move to Milan.

The Rossoneri have improved the structure of their bid, and an agreement with Monaco is now very close.

This is a blow for United who recently enquired about signing the Frenchman

United have signed Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui this summer.

However, they are keen to sign another midfielder and have identified Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte as their priority target.

The player’s agent Jorge Mendes reportedly travelled to England to discuss the move to Old Trafford.

PSG are demanding around £51 million for Ugarte, but the Red Devils have no intention of meeting that valuation.

Unless the Ligue 1 giants reduce their asking price, a deal for the Uruguayan is unlikely.

United had identified Fofana as an alternative target, but he is now on the verge of joining Milan.

This could force the Premier League giants to turn their attention to Burnley’s Sander Berge.

While Berge would be a cheaper alternative than Ugarte he lacks his quality.
