Man Utd willing to offer £100,000-per-week contract to Berge

Manchester United are looking to reinforce their midfield after signing Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee in the summer transfer window.

They were heavily linked with Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte but have now pulled out of the race due to the enormous price tag.

PSG demanded £51 million for Ugarte and the Red Devils were unwilling to meet that valuation.

According to the Sun, they are ready to offer the 26-year-old a bumper contract worth £100,000 per week.

The Norwegian is excited about the possibility of joining the Manchester outfit this summer.

However, the transfer fee is a stumbling block. Burnley are demanding up to £30 million for Berge, and United are prepared to pay only £20m.

Berge could be a smart acquisition for the Premier League giants as they can sign him for a smaller fee than Ugarte.

He made 37 appearances in the Premier League last season, averaging 2.1 tackles, 5.5 ball recoveries and 1.6 clearances per game.

The Clarets are under no pressure to sell as they can rely on the £100m parachute payment.

United will have to make an offer close to their asking price if they want to sign the player this summer.
