Arsenal make first bid to sign Kadioglu, personal terms agreed

Arsenal have made an opening bid to sign one of Turkey’s best players, according to Nutuk.

The Gunners have signed David Raya and Riccardo Calafiori in the current transfer window, but there could be more arrivals before the transfer deadline on August 30.

The club are already exploring a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino and they are also working on a transfer for Fenerbahce’s Ferdi Kadioglu.

The 24-year-old reportedly agreed personal terms with Arsenal in May. The Gunners have now lodged an opening transfer bid in the region of £17 million.

However, Fenerbahce are reluctant to part ways with their prized asset for less than £30m.

Kadioglu deal would come as a surprise

The versatile full-back made 51 appearances for Fenerbahce last term, scoring five goals and providing three assists. Most of those outings came from the left-back position.

Arsenal have already found a fresh solution at left back in Riccardo Calafiori. They are unlikely to sign Kadioglu unless they consider him an attacking option.

Kadiglou began his career as a forward. He had made over 40 appearances on the right wing and left wing and has featured in the number 10 role on 59 occasions.

However, he has had only limited success in the final third. The speculation could be agent-driven to encourage other clubs to enter the transfer race.

Arsenal may have been interested in the player earlier this summer, but the arrival of Calafiori from Bologna has probably ended Kadioglu’s prospects of joining them.
