Newcastle United enter meaningful talks for Manchester United target

 

Manchester United are in the market for a new centre-back, despite signing Leny Yoro from Lille earlier in the transfer window. 

Several players have been linked with the Premier League giants, including Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi. 

The 24-year-old was a key part of Gareth Southgate’s England team at the 2024 European Championship.

His performances have sparked interest from several top European clubs but Newcastle United have taken the first step to sign the defender. 

According to The Athletic, they have opened negotiations with the Eagles over a move for the England international. 

Man United have been credited with an interest in Guehi but it looks like they are prioritising other targets. 

They wanted to secure a deal for Jarrad Branthwaite but Everton are unwilling to part with their prized asset this summer. 

United have switched their attention to Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and have agreed personal terms with him.

They are in talks with Bayern but have yet to reach an agreement over a transfer fee. 

United recently submitted a joint bid for De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui which was rejected by the Bundesliga giants.
