West Ham United have submitted an opening offer to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Hammers’ proposal is worth around £21 million plus add-ons, but there’s still a valuation gap with the Germans holding out for at least £25m.
Dortmund are still considering the offer. They understand Fullkrug is eager to join the Hammers but are waiting to see if the club will improve their proposal.
West Ham are reluctant to match Dortmund’s asking price, but both clubs remain locked in negotiations, and a deal could be agreed in the coming weeks.
The 31-year-old striker is keen to join the Hammers and is ready to sign a three-year deal with the option of an additional 12 months. He could earn around the same figure as his current wage package at Dortmund.
West Ham will reportedly not improve their offer for the German international striker and could pull out of the deal if Dortmund ask for more cash.
They are keen to sign a striker this summer as part of Julen Lopetegui’s plans to bolster his attacking options before the start of the 2024/25 season.
West Ham could revive Duran deal if Fullkrug doesn’t sign
West Ham are still interested in Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran and could reignite their interest in the Colombian striker if they fail to complete a deal for Fullkrug.
The German netted 16 goals and provided ten assists in 46 appearances across all competitions for Dortmund last season. He also netted twice for Germany at the 2024 European Championship.
Fullkrug has plenty of European experience and is a proven goalscorer. He would be an exciting addition for West Ham, and they should prioritise landing his signature ahead of Duran.
Duran is also an intriguing prospect, but Villa’s £40m demands are outrageous for a player who has only shown glimpses of his potential.
