Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay this summer, according to the Sunday Times journalist Duncan Castles.
The Scotland international is on the market, but the Red Devils want £40 million before agreeing to sell him.
Fulham had a £15m offer turned down by Man United for McTominay earlier this summer but have returned with a £20m bid.
West Ham United also have the 27-year-old on their radar, but Castles believes Spurs should have an edge in the pursuit of the Red Devils academy graduate.
“Tottenham Hotspur are also strongly interested in McTominay,” the journalist said on The Transfers Podcast.
“And I think ultimately should be able to outbid Fulham for the player, as well as having higher status and the ability to offer European football to McTominay.
“I think in all likelihood we would see McTominay move to another Premier League club before the end of this window.”
The Man United midfielder was close to leaving the club last summer and is expected to finally move on in the coming days.
McTominay bagged ten goals and three assists in 43 appearances last season before heading to the European Championship.
He netted once in three games for Scotland, and a move to Tottenham would appeal to him.
The club will play in the Europa League next season after finishing fifth last term, which makes them more attractive than Fulham and West Ham.
Man United are looking to sell players to fund a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, and they could be willing to do business for around £30m if Spurs are ready to meet their demands.
Getting rid of Casemiro has proven difficult for the Red Devils, as no buyers are ready to meet his personal demands.
However, moving the Scotland international on is looking feasible and he could be playing for another club by September.
