Manchester United have signed a new striker and central defender this summer and are now likely to focus on reinforcing the midfield department.
They have been heavily linked with Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte in recent weeks, but Sky Sports claim there is a gap in valuation between the clubs.
The club are discussing the possibility of re-signing Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina and La Nazione claim they are following him with determination.
United are working on two different tracks to sign him. The club recently decided against triggering his €20 million release clause but could make a fresh bid.
The new hierarchy could offer to sign Amrabat for €13m or propose another season-long loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Fiorentina will want Amrabat to extend his contract beyond June 2025 to protect his value.
Amrabat could return to Old Trafford this summer
The Red Devils have already agreed personal terms with Ugarte, but a deal could be complicated with Paris Saint-Germain asking for £59 million to sanction his sale.
Jadon Sancho has also been linked with a summer move to Parc des Princes. He could be used as a makeweight to lower the final sum for the Uruguay international.
Despite this, manager Erik ten Hag may want another midfield acquisition. There is a possibility of Scott McTominay could leave for the right price this summer.
Amrabat had a difficult start to his United career as he struggled to adapt to the league’s intensity, but he looked much assured during the final month of the season.
He also starred for United in the FA Cup final win over Manchester City. It has been reported that the ‘world-class‘ star would be interested in rejoining the club after their decision to keep Ten Hag.
The manager is interested in re-signing him. Amrabat could be signed ahead of Ugarte as it will cost less to secure his services.
