West Ham United have joined the growing list of clubs vying to sign coveted Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers have submitted an opening bid in what could be a ‘very expensive’ deal for the club.
West Ham have also opened talks with the player’s representatives to agree personal terms, but negotiations are still in their early stages.
The club has already brought in three new players, but Technical Director Tim Steidten is focused on strengthening the squad further, especially in attack.
Despite the arrival of Brazilian forward Luis Guilherme, West Ham’s options on the flanks are currently left-foot dominant, with Mohamed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen among them.
Summerville will add a different profile to the roster, and the 22-year-old could be a game-changing acquisition for the Hammers.
He was in inspired form for Leeds last season, although his heroics weren’t enough to help the club secure a swift return to the Premier League.
West Ham must go all out to sign Summerville
Summerville has become one of the most coveted Championship stars this summer after an electrifying campaign with Leeds last term.
He finished the 2023/24 season as Leeds’ top scorer after netting 19 goals in 43 Championship games.
Summerville’s creative ability was also on full display, crafting an outstanding 17 big chances while recording nine assists in the league.
His tally ranked him second for assists among his teammates, with only French striker Georginio Rutter setting up more goals than the former Feyenoord prodigy (15).
Besides Summerville’s remarkable numbers, his nimble footwork and ability to skip past defenders make him a constant threat that would inject more dynamism into West Ham’s attack.
The prospect of Summerville lining up alongside Kudus and Bowen behind a prolific striker would be exciting.
The potential attacking trio could be a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League next season.
