West Ham rekindle interest in Man United’s Scott McTominay

West Ham United have reportedly reignited their interest in Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, according to the Times.

The 27-year-old Scottish international is in an unsettled situation at Old Trafford, with manager Erik ten Hag revamping the midfield.

Man United are keen on signing a new holding midfielder, and with Mason Mount returning to full fitness, McTominay will be further down the pecking order.

While McTominay remains a valuable squad member, there’s a chance he could be deemed surplus to requirements.

West Ham’s renewed interest comes after they had a £30 million bid rejected by United last summer.

Former manager David Moyes was keen on bringing him to the London Stadium, but it did not work out.

McTominay went on to enjoy a career-best 10-goal season in 2023/24. However, he is reportedly open to the move if it guarantees more playing time.

West Ham want to sign a box-to-box midfielder to compete with Tomas Soucek for a starting berth, and McTominay fits the bill.

However, a sticking point could be United’s valuation. The Red Devils are looking for a massive fee despite the player having only a year left on his contract.

Fulham are also interested in the Lancaster-born midfielder and recently had a bid rejected. The London duo could be locked in a fierce battle for McTominay’s signature.
