Manchester United have already made one signing this summer – Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutch striker arrived from Bologna in a £36.5 million transfer deal.
It may not be long before United confirm their second acquisition. The club have already agreed a deal worth £52m with Lille for the transfer of wonderkid Leny Yoro.
The French centre-back is undergoing his medical and could be announced as a new signing soon.
United are also eyeing a defensive midfielder and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte could reportedly be on his way to the club.
The Uruguay international could be available for a fee of around £38m. Let’s examine how United could line up with the £126.5m trio this season.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
Andre Onana will obviously continue in goal as the undisputed first-choice. The Cameroon international had a shaky start to his United career, but his handling improved at the back end of last season. He made several key saves in the FA Cup final win over Manchester City.
Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw should be the automatic choices in the fulll-back positions when fit and available for selection. Lisandro Martinez will definitely have a new centre-back partner after the departure of Raphael Varane on a free transfer.
Yoro is expected to line up alongside the Copa America winner following his big-money move. The 18-year-old should be a quality signing for the Red Devils due to his strong ball-playing skills, aerial presence, recovery speed and ability to clear his lines.
With Casemiro no longer in his prime, Ugarte would walk into the team ahead of the Brazilian due to his better distribution, positioning and ability to control possession.
Kobbie Mainoo had a sensational breakthrough campaign with United and he should be guaranteed his spot in the number eight role on merit ahead of Mason Mount. Bruno Fernandes is an automatic starter from the number 10 position for United.
Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford are manager Erik ten Hag’s preferred choices out wide. Garnacho should line up on the right wing with Rashford in his favoured role on the left flank.
Zirkzee is likely to be rotated with Rasmus Hojlund in the centre-forward position next season.
