Arsenal are interested in signing Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich and Borussia Dortmund forward Donyell Malen this summer, according to Bild (page 14).
The Gunners recently confirmed the permanent signing of goalkeeper David Raya from Brentford following a successful season-long loan.
The Spaniard remains the club’s only senior signing this summer, but there should be more activity in the near future ahead of the new season.
Kimmich will likely leave Bayern this summer as he wishes to play in the number six role instead of right-back.
Arsenal is one of several clubs eyeing a move for the German international, whose contract expires next summer.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are ‘considered interested’ in former academy graduate Malen, who wants a fresh challenge away from Dortmund.
The Champions League runners-up are prepared to sell him for around £34 million.
Kimmich and Malen would be quality additions to Arsenal squad
Kimmich predominantly played as a right-back for Bayern earlier this year, but he is determined to operate as a holding midfielder next season.
It seems unlikely to happen after Bayern’s decision to sign Joao Palhinha.
The Fulham star is a specialist defensive midfielder. He was on the club’s radar from January and has been signed despite the change of head coach.
There is a realistic possibility that Kimmich will head for the exit door. He is valued at £42m by Transfermarkt but could be signed for less.
The former RB Leipzig man would be an ideal candidate to accompany Declan Rice. The latter could feature centrally where he has had success.
Malen would be another fine signing for the Gunners. He could provide much-needed back-up for Bukayo Saka on the right wing.
The Dutchman made 20 goal contributions from 38 outings last term. Almost three-quarters of his involvements were from the right side of Dortmund’s attack.
Malen has already opened the door for a reunion with the London giants.
The £76 million-rated duo would be quality additions to the Arsenal squad for next season.
