Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Ajax goalkeeper

Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign another goalkeeper in the summer transfer window, according to David Ornstein.

The Gunners recently confirmed the permanent signing of David Raya from Brentford following his successful season-long loan stint.

After recently bolstering their academy ranks with Lucas Nygaard, Arsenal have agreed to sign Tommy Setford from Ajax.

The teenager, who was born in the Netherlands, has already represented England at four different age groups.

He was with the England Under 20s for the friendlies against Sweden and Ireland in June, but was left on the bench.

Arsenal are now set to sign him on a four-year contract. They have finalised his transfer for €1 million plus add-ons.

Setford, who has been described as a ‘big talent‘ by Ajax sources, is likely to join the development squad.

However, he could be involved in the pre-season tour of the United States with Raya and Aaron Ramsdale away at the 2024 European Championship.

The duo could be handed a two-week rest following the tournament and may not be involved until the start of next month.

Karl Hein, who recently signed a new long-term deal, will likely be the first-choice goalkeeper on the upcoming tour.

Arsenal want to sign Dan Bentley from Wolverhampton Wanderers and are likely to make an improved bid for him.

The Gunners are expected to evaluate Ramsdale’s future on his return to the club.

If the club finds a suitable buyer, they will make an approach for Espanyol shot-stopper Joan Garcia.
