‘World-class’ star now wants transfer to Man Utd, agent has just informed his club

Manchester United are preparing for a busy phase in the summer transfer window and could make multiple signings over the next week.

The club have reached an agreement to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutchman is likely to be announced as a new player very soon.

United are reportedly lining up a move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney, who wants to join the club.

The 28-year-old has already informed Brentford of his desire through his representative.

Zirkzee recently agreed a long-term deal with United. The Dutchman should provide quality competition to Rasmus Hojlund up front.

Toney has now been linked with a transfer, but that is unlikely to happen unless manager Erik ten Hag changes his formation.

Ten Hag has preferred to operate with a 4-2-3-1 set-up, but the arrival of a second striker could see him shift to a double six formation (4-2-2-2).

The tactic worked in the final three games of last season including the FA Cup final, where Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay played up top.

Toney, who has been described as ‘world-class‘ by manager Thomas Frank, would be a surprise signing for United, but a move could happen.

Several other English clubs are also interested in signing him, but United have a clear edge, with the striker reportedly holding out to join them.
