Everton open talks to sign Napoli forward Jesper Lindstrom

Everton have opened talks to sign Napoli forward Jesper Lindstrom, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Danish winger has emerged as a primary target for the Toffees, who are keen to add another forward to their ranks.

Everton have turned their attention to Lindstrom after missing out on Hull City winger Jaden Philogene, who is set to rejoin Aston Villa.

The Blues had agreed a deal with Hull to sign the talented winger, but the prospect of playing Champions League football was too tempting for the player to turn down.

However, Everton aren’t licking their wounds and have immediately set their sights on a new target, with Lindstrom now firmly in their sights.

Lindstrom became a coveted forward after a decent campaign at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he scored nine goals and provided four assists in 38 games across all competitions.

Several clubs were keen to land his signature, but the 24-year-old winger signed for Napoli in a deal worth £25 million.

However, his move to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium hasn’t gone according to script, and he could be on the move again after just 12 months.

Lindstrom struggled to make an impact at Napoli, starting just two of his 22 appearances in the Italian top flight. He failed to open his goalscoring account but created three big chances for the Partenopei.

Despite enduring a woeful campaign in Naples, Everton are confident they can revitalise Lindstrom’s career and have initiated contact with Napoli regarding a potential deal.

A fresh start at Goodison Park and regular first-team football could help the Denmark international recapture his form.

Everton have been active during the summer transfer window, signing Tim Iroegbunam, Jack Harrison and Iliman Ndiaye.

They’re also nearing an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur over a revised payment structure if they decide to re-sign Dele Alli.

The Blues comfortably avoided relegation last season and are showing ambition in the transfer market as they look to climb the Premier League table next term.
