Jurgen Klopp rejects first job offer since leaving Liverpool 

Jurgen Klopp has reportedly turned down the opportunity to become the new head coach of the United States national team (h/t The Athletic).

The US contacted the German regarding the possibility of leading the team, but he rebuffed their approach, insisting he would like a break from football. 

Gregg Berhalter was recently fired from his position after the team’s group-stage exit at the 2024 Copa Americ tournament.

The approach to Klopp comes as the US prepares to co-host the 2026 World Cup alongside Mexico and Canada.

US Soccer’s sporting director, Matt Crocker, wants the team to make a mark on home soil after disappointing in the Copa America.

Klopp shocked the footballing world by announcing his decision to step down as Liverpool manager in January. 

His departure initially served as a catalyst for the team to chase an unprecedented quadruple. 

The Reds claimed the Carabao Cup but ended the season without winning another trophy.

Klopp has been linked with several jobs since leaving Liverpool but seems intent on taking a break from football.
