Man Utd plot last-gasp hijack for Premier League attacker after €60m deal agreed

Manchester United are one of the clubs trying to hijack Bayern Munich’s move for Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Michael Olise, according to Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Red Devils have had the France youth international on their radar for a while but the Bundesliga club are ahead of them and other suitors in the race to secure his services.

They have reportedly reached an agreement with Palace and a verbal agreement with the player has been struck, with Bayern expected to pay around €60 million for him.

Olise has also chosen Bayern ahead of other clubs and is expected to sign a five-year deal. A medical is scheduled for this week.

The 22-year-old has impressed since joining Palace in 2021, ending last term with ten goals and six assists in 19 Premier League games.

Olise fits the club’s new recruitment profile as Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants the club to go in a different direction, but they will need to look elsewhere as he has chosen to leave the Premier League.

Man United will likely not give up in their attempt to hijack the deal. Nothing has been sealed yet between the versatile attacker and the German club, and anything could still happen in the coming days.

Quality depth in attack is one of the things the Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag needs if his side are to challenge for the Premier League title next term and impress in the Europa League.

While missing out on Olise would be a big blow, the recruitment team will look to identify other targets and options capable of producing the goods.
