Marseille ‘keen’ to sign Man Utd forward, many top European clubs already in transfer race

Manchester United are focused on selling forward Mason Greenwood in the summer transfer window.

According to The Athletic, Marseille are exploring a deal to sign Greenwood from Man United.

The Ligue 1 club are ‘keen to recruit’ and have already held positive dialogue with the forward.

Marseille are diving into a fierce transfer battle, with Juventus, Napoli, Barcelona and Lazio all vying to sign him.

Greenwood reportedly favours a move to Marseille over other options at this stage.

Greenwood is likely to leave Man Utd permanently this summer

Several top European clubs are eyeing a move for the 22-year-old forward.

He spent last season on loan with La Liga club Getafe, bagging ten goals and six assists in 36 games across competitions,

His impressive performances helped him secure the club’s prestigious Player of the Season crown for 2023-24.

Getafe are keen to bring Greenwood back to Estadio Coliseum on another season-long loan.

However, the Red Devils want to part ways with him permanently this summer.

They want to use the proceeds from his sale to sign a striker who could cover for Rasmus Hojlund. Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee remains on the shortlist.

A fee of around £40 million for Greenwood, coupled with a lucrative sell-on clause, could be a shrewd financial move from United.

Greenwood is out of contract in 2025, but United have an option to extend that by 12 months.

Sending him on loan could potentially weaken the club’s leverage over future transfer fees.
