Chelsea contact Leicester City about a move for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Chelsea have contacted Leicester City over a move for midfielder Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, according to The Athletic.

Chelsea want another midfielder and have set their sights on the 25-year-old who impressed in the Championship last term with 12 goals and 14 assists in 44 league appearances.

Dewsbury-Hall is also open to leaving his boyhood club for Stamford Bridge. Chelsea will likely have to stump a significant fee for the midfielder as his contract runs until 2027.

However, the London club has shown they are ready to shell out obscene money for players they fancy.

Chelsea believe Dewsbury-Hall is a perfect tactical fit for manager Enzo Maresca, who worked with him last term.

The Leicester City Players’ Player of the Season could fit into Maresca’s 4-3-3 formation alongside Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.

Chelsea fans will be wondering what implication Dewsbury-Hall’s arrival could have on the future of Conor Gallagher.

The club have been trying to sell the 24-year-old England international for some time to balance their books, and signing Dewsbury-Hall could expedite his exit from the club.

Chelsea have wasted no time getting to business this summer, even though they have failed to plug the actual gaps in the first team.

They have reportedly completed a deal to sign Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa for £19 million.

The transfer has received plenty of attention, as the England youth international was an unknown quantity before his move.

Estevao Willian has also joined Chelsea’s seemingly never-ending pursuit of young talents. Tosin Adarabioyo moved to Chelsea after leaving Fulham.

The Blues are close to signing Barcelona teenage striker Marc Guiu while simultaneously trying to complete a deal for Boca Juniors man Aaron Anselmino.

Chelsea’s search for a striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson is ongoing, and several underwhelming options have been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge.

They also have holes to plug at left-back, left-wing and goalkeeper.
