Man Utd want to sign Wolves star Cunha, prepared to double wages

Manchester United are lining up a surprise move for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Matheus Cunha this summer, according to the Mirror.

The Red Devils are eyeing a new centre-forward, with Anthony Martial set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Cunha has reportedly been identified as a prime target for the Red Devils following his impressive second season with Wolves.

He fits into the aggressive, dynamic and ambitious profile of players that co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to bring to the club.

Wolves are keen to keep hold of the £60 million-rated star, but the Red Devils plan to lure him by doubling his £60,000 per week wages.

Cunha would suit United’s current playing style

The 25-year-old initially joined on loan from Atletico Madrid with an obligation to buy for £35m in January 2023.

Cunha bagged only two goals from his first 18 outings, but he stood out for the club last term with 14 goals and eight assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.

He also caught the eye with his regular high pressing, work rate and dribbling skills in the final third.

The Brazilian ace completed 20 passes on average with an accuracy of 81 percent. He made over three ball recoveries per outing while winning five ground and aerial duels.

Cunha can lead the line or play as a second striker. His versatility and goal contributions could be a primary reason behind United’s surprise interest in signing him.
