Arsenal big admirers of defender Chelsea ‘really wanted’, he’s already been to the Emirates

Arsenal are big admirers of Feyenoord left-back Quilindschy Hartman and are planning to enter the race to sign him when he returns from injury next season, according to the Telegraph.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is looking at strengthening his defence, and the Netherlands international has caught his eye.

However, Hartman is currently injured and will miss the European Championship. His recovery is set to run into next term.

Chelsea ‘really wanted’ the 22-year-old and were planning a summer move having approached Feyenoord in January.

His injury has halted their plans, and Arsenal will join them in his pursuit if they return for him next year.

Hartman and his representatives were at the Emirates Stadium in April to watch Chelsea take on Arsenal, and the full-back would have been impressed with the Gunners who ran out 5-0 winners.

Their scouts are convinced the Dutchman is a player who could make the jump to English football, and a move could be on the cards in the January transfer window.

The Feyenoord star bagged six assists across 37 games this season. He also scored on his international debut against France last October.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jakub Kiwior shared left-back duties at Arsenal in 2023-24, while Jurrien Timber is set to return following his anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The Ukraine international could be on his way out, and the Gunners want Hartman in.

The 2022-23 Eredivisie winner will be looking forward to returning to action next term, and a move to the Premier League could be on the cards if he manages to hit the ground running.
