Man Utd are very keen on signing winger from Paris Saint-Germain

Manchester United are very interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Xavi Simons on loan, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo (page 4).

The Red Devils had a brilliant end to the season as they beat arch-rivals Manchester City to the FA Cup title. Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho were on the scoresheet.

United are now aiming to reinforce the squad for next season. The club are reportedly determined to sign Simons on a season-long loan from Les Parisiens.

However, the Dutchman has no desire to move to the Premier League. He is currently biding his time as he looks to secure a temporary deal with his former club Barcelona.

Simons was in the La Masia academy between the ages of seven and 15 before parting ways. He is keen on reuniting with the Catalan giants in the coming weeks.

The winger may only consider another European club if the Blaugrana can’t afford to sign him due to their ongoing issues with La Liga officials over Financial Fair Play.

Man Utd should not be dragged into a transfer saga

The 21-year-old had a brilliant season with RB Leipzig on loan. He bagged ten goals and 15 assists from 43 appearances in all competitions.

Simons was successful on either wing for the Bundesliga giants. He also made three goal contributions from the attacking midfield role under manager Marco Rose.

Despite the positives, the forward does not wish to join any club other than Barcelona. He is expected to prioritise a homecoming with the La Liga giants.

United are keen on landing his signature, but the club’s hierarchy should not be dragged into a transfer saga.

There are plenty of other young and emerging wingers in the transfer market. PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams are similarly talented and have huge potential.
