Chelsea make first move to sign Man Utd target with contract offer

Chelsea have made a contract offer to Manchester United target Tosin Adarabioyo.

The 26-year-old has been a key player for Fulham over the past four years, but he has decided to pursue a new challenge when his contract expires on June 30.

Manchester United were recently credited with an interest in the Manchester City graduate, but the Blues are now pushing to sign him ahead of other suitors.

Sky Sports claim the London giants have proposed a contract to the centre-back as they aim to find a replacement for Thiago Silva.

United need to step up their interest in Adarabioyo

The Red Devils may need to make multiple changes in central defence this summer.

Raphael Varane will be leaving the club as a free-agent when his contract expires next month.

Jonny Evans could also walk away on a free transfer while there is uncertainty over Victor Lindelof’s future, who is set to enter the final year of his deal.

The hierarchy are aiming to sign a marquee centre-back. Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite is currently the prime target, but he is unlikely to come on the cheap.

United also need to invest on another cost-effective option. Adarabioyo would be an ideal fit with no transfer fee involved. His wage demands may not be excessive.

He is currently on £40,000-a-week at Fulham. The Red Devils could bring him to Old Trafford for a decent signing-on fee and a £100,000 weekly salary package.
