Unai Emery pens new deal with Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has signed a five-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2029.

Since taking over from Steven Gerrard, Emery has overseen a massive change in fortunes at Villa Park.

Only Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool have picked up more points than Villa since 2022 and it was no surprise to see him rewarded with a long-term contract.

“I am very happy to take this step and the responsibility of leading this club,” the Spaniard told Villa’s official website.

“Since I came to Villa with Wes (Edens) and Nassef (Swairis), we found the best environment and structure to develop a project with the highest ambition.

“All the football structure with Monchi and Damian (Vidagany) and the owners, we share the same vision and same goals.

“There’s a great chemistry in Aston Villa. And the element of the fans’ support also makes the difference to feel like home. We are really excited to continue this journey with no limits to our dreams.”

Emery was nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Season accolade having led his side to a top-four finish this season,

After a disappointing exit to Olympiacos in the semi-finals of last season’s Europa Conference League, Emery will be looking to make an impact in the Champions League next season.

With a strong foundation in place and a determined manager at the wheel, Villa can look forward to challenging for major trophies over the next few years.
