Manchester United are considering keeping Erik ten Hag as their manager for the 2024/25 season.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United officials have notified representatives of potential replacements that they have not discounted the possibility of keeping Ten Hag.
The Dutchman is at risk of being dismissed from his role after a poor season. Man United have already held talks with the representatives of Kieran McKenna and Thomas Frank.
Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino are also on the shortlist to replace Ten Hag.
INEOS need to give Erik ten Hag another season
United have developed a pattern of sacking managers when results have not met expectations in recent years.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe needs to buck this trend and support Ten Hag.
The Red Devils had a terrible campaign, finishing eighth in the Premier League – their lowest-ever finish in 34 years. They also suffered a Premier League-era record 14 defeats.
The FA Cup triumph over Man City has helped Ten Hag’s case as United secured European football for next season.
The Dutchman needs to improve his in-game management. He must also be more courageous and drop his favouritism towards a few players.
The injury struggles did not help him as he could not put his best players on the pitch.
Lisandro Martinez showed against Man City what his presence at the back does for United. His leadership and passing ability made a massive difference in how the team played out from the back.
There was no specialist left-back for the second half of the season which forced the United manager to constantly change his line-up.
Under his guidance, United have won two trophies in two years. Before his arrival, they had not lifted any silverware in six years.
This has led to growing support for Ten Hag among the sections of United’s fanbase, a sentiment that Ratcliffe cannot afford to ignore.
