‘He is so good’: Ten Hag says injured United star is the best in the world in his position

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says Luke Shaw is the best left-back in the world but can’t play 60 games per season.

The England international has made only 15 appearances on the back of multiple muscular injuries.

Shaw has been ruled out of today’s FA Cup final against Manchester City, but there is an outside chance he could make the England squad for the European Championship.

Ten Hag told Voetbal International that Shaw struggles to cope with the demands of playing elite-level football.

He said: “Luke Shaw is the best left back in the world. This guy is so good.

“But he has suffered a horrible injury at the start of his career and, because of this, he will never be able to play 60 games per season.”

United need a strong competitor to Shaw next season

Shaw is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, but he is no longer reliable due to injuries.

United tried to find a solution with Tyrell Malacia two years ago, but he missed last season after complicated knee surgery.

The Red Devils are now searching for a new left-back this summer. The club need to make the right signing and Stade Brestois left-back Bradley Locko would be a good acquisition.

The 22-year-old Frenchman has strong defensive qualities but has also impressed with his overlapping runs and accurate crosses into the box. He could be signed for around £17 million.

United face Manchester City in the FA Cup final today. Diogo Dalot looks set to continue at left-back.
