Galatasaray plan to ‘contact’ Arsenal & make ‘official offer’ to sign Partey

Galatasaray are prepared to compete with Fenerbahce to sign Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey this summer, according to Turkish outlet Takvim.

The Ghana international had another injury-affected season with the Gunners. He managed less than 900 minutes across 16 appearances for the club.

With his contract expiring in June next year, the Gunners could be tempted to sell him.

Fenerbahce president Ali Koc reportedly wants to bring Partey to the club. A formal offer could be made if he continued as president next month.

Galatasaray have joined the race and are prepared to contact Arsenal to make an official offer for the 30-year-old.

Arsenal likely to part ways with Partey

The Gunners recently extended Jorginho’s contract for another season, which could directly affect Partey’s future this summer.

The club are likely to recruit a marquee defensive midfielder ahead of next season. Martin Zubimendi, Bruno Guimaraes and Joao Neves have been linked in recent months.

The Ghanaian has been with the Gunners since October 2020 but has missed more than 70 games with different injuries. He is no longer reliable over an extended run of games.

Arsenal could use him on a rotational basis, but Partey may prefer to play regularly elsewhere. There is a strong possibility he could be shown the exit door.

Galatasaray could have a better chance of landing him over Fenerbahce, given they could come close to his £200,000-a-week wages. Mauro Icardi is their highest earner at £166,000 per week.

Fenerbahce’s highest earners are currently on £116,000 weekly. Partey is valued at £17 million by Transfermarkt, and Arsenal could hold out for that figure.
