Man Utd star hoping to win the Player of the Season award

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot admits that winning the Player of the Season award would be a tremendous honour.

The Red Devils have had a below-average season, but Dalot is one of the few players who can hold his head high.

Speaking to MUTV, Dalot expressed his happiness about being more consistent this term.

He said: “It would mean a lot. You know how hard it is to play for Manchester United. I have this in my mind every single day that, to arrive here, it’s not for everyone.

“When you play with the best players in the world, the level is always going harder and harder and higher.

“Individually, I think I’ve made a pretty good season so far. I’ve made a step forward [compared to] previous seasons, which makes me happy

“I think I’ve been showing this season that I’ve been much more consistent than previous ones. That was my main focus for this year – to try and be consistent every game.”

Dalot could win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award

The Portuguese full-back is leading the race to scoop the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year prize.

He has been consistent throughout the season and is one of only two outfield players who have not missed a single game due to an injury.

Dalot has featured 48 times for the Red Devils this term, scoring twice and registering five assists.

Due to several injuries in the squad, Dalot has operated as a left-back which is not his preferred position.

He was always a dynamic full-back who loved to support in attack, but his defence has improved massively over the last two seasons.

The 25-year-old has been a key player for United, helping them to play out from the back.

He is a technically sound defender who is excellent with the ball at his feet and always tries to move play forward rather than backwards.

Dalot always encourages players in warm-ups and on the pitch. If he can continue to grow in his role, he could become a future Man United captain.
