Napoli join race with Juventus to sign Man United attacker

Manchester United attacker Mason Greenwood could leave Old Trafford permanently in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to The Athletic, Napoli have opened talks to sign Greenwood while Juventus are keen to secure his services.

European giants Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have also been linked with the 22-year-old.

Greenwood is currently on a season-long loan with Getafe. He has bagged ten goals and six assists in 34 appearances in all competitions.

Man United would prefer to sell Greenwood

The Red Devils have not ruled out the possibility of Greenwood going out on loan again.

Man United’s new co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, left the door open to a possible return for Greenwood.

However, the Premier League giants want to cash in on the forward and utilise those funds to bolster their squad.

United considered reintegrating him after charges of rape and assault were dropped in February last year.

A potential backlash from the club supporters forced them to send their academy graduate on loan to Getafe.

A similar wave of outbursts will likely happen if he returns to Old Trafford next season.

Ratcliffe will not want to get into a situation where United fans are not on his side.

Next season will be the first full campaign for INEOS after their partial takeover, and they would rather avoid a controversy.

Greenwood is out of contract in 2025, but the Red Devils have an option to extend that by 12 months.
