Arsenal legend Ian Wright praised Leandro Trossard following his match-winning Premier League goal against Manchester United on Sunday.
The Gunners faced a must-win game at Old Trafford and secured the result after Trossard’s opening goal in the 20th minute.
Kai Havertz delivered a quality assist into the six-yard box which Trossard converted into his 17th goal of the season.
Wright was delighted with the Belgian. He told Premier League Productions: “It’s brilliant. The finish is easy but he’s made it easy.”
“The amount of thought that has gone into that. Kai Havertz’s pass has got to have the right amount of pace to get past the players and past the keeper.
“The timing of Trossard’s run when you look at (Aaron) Wan-Bissaka, who’s a very good one-on-one defender, is just brilliant.
“It’s one of those goals that will be taken for granted as a tap-in, but there’s a lot of work that’s gone in to make that look as easy as it was.”
Trossard has been a revelation for the Gunners since his switch from Brighton & Hove Albion in January last year.
He was only signed after Chelsea hijacked the Gunners’ move for Mykhailo Mudryk, but the decision has proved to be a blessing in disguise.
The 29-year-old has made 30 goal contributions in the last 16 months. Nineteen of those have come this season despite his limited playing time.
Trossard has averaged only 48 minutes per appearance, but he has now established himself as an undisputed starter on the left wing.
Gabriel Martinelli will undoubtedly want to regain the position in future. The Gunners are blessed to have two fantastic players vying for the role.
