Paul Merson believes that Carlo Ancelotti would be a perfect manager for Manchester United.
The Red Devils are expected to part company with Erik ten Hag following a disappointing 2023-24 season.
They are anguishing in eighth in the Premier League standings and are likely to miss out on European qualification.
Several managers have been linked with United, including Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Gareth Southgate.
However, Merson claims that Carlo Ancelotti would be an ideal candidate to solve the club’s problems.
He told Sky Sports: “I know Ancelotti’s got another year left at Madrid, but if they go on to win the Champions League and I know it’s not a step forward, but you bring him in for a year.
“You get him in, you get him there for a year and he comes and he goes at the end of the season, ‘keep him, keep him, get rid of him, he’s a bad egg’.
“This bloke has worked with the best in the world. Watch his Real Madrid team, they’ve got superstars and they run around – that’s because of the manager.
“They need someone to come in and sort it out because, at the moment, Man United are a million miles off.”

Ancelotti is one of the top managers in the world and has done an excellent job since returning to Madrid in 2021.
He led the club to the La Liga and Champions League titles in his first season before leading them to Copa del Rey success last term.
Los Blancos have been outstanding under Ancelotti this term, clinching the league title and reaching the Champion League final.
It would represent a huge coup if INEOS were able to persuade him to join United.
