Real Madrid-bound Kylian Mbappe announces he will leave PSG this summer

Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe has announced that he will leave the club after seven glorious years.

Mbappe took to social media to declare he won’t extend his contract with the club, which expires this summer. He thanked PSG, his teammates and the staff for their contributions towards his career.

The 25-year-old joined the PSG ahead of the 2017/18 season and helped the club clinch 14 titles in that time.

Mbappe is expected to finally join Real Madrid on a free transfer after being linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu since his emergence at AS Monaco.

Following his breakout season with Les Monagasques, in which he helped them win the Ligue 1 title, Madrid and PSG went head to head for his signature, and the Paris club came out on top.

They have spent the past seasons fending off Los Blancos, but Mbappe has decided to seek greener pastures.

The France international has shattered several scoring records in France and is eyeing more history with Madrid.

Mbappe’s trophy cabinet is missing a Champions League trophy, and Los Blancos are his best bet to clinch the elusive title.

The Bondy-born forward saw his side crash out of this season’s competition after Borussia Dortmund stunned them over two legs.

PSG were the favourites, but a combination of defensive resilience and sheer luck saw Dortmund progress to the final, where they will face Madrid.

The Parc des Princes will be a cauldron of emotions as Mbappe plays his final game for PSG against Toulouse on Sunday.

Fans will be eager to give him a hero’s send-off, celebrating his achievements while also tinged with sadness at seeing their star player depart.
