Man Utd ‘on the prowl’ to sign Olmo, move must be avoided

Manchester United are ‘on the prowl’ to sign RB Leipzig attacker Dani Olmo this summer, according to Spanish publication Sport (page 8).

The Red Devils are due to make multiple signings during the summer transfer window, and a new playmaker could be one of the priorities.

United have been linked with Olmo on several occasions. Sport claim they are one of the contenders to sign the Spain international.

The 26-year-old currently has a €60 million release clause in his contract, and Leipzig have no desire to lose him for anything less this summer.

Barcelona also admire their former graduate, but the Spanish outfit are not in a position to afford him due to ongoing financial issues.

United should avoid approach for Olmo due to injury record

Olmo is considered one of the best playmakers in the Bundesliga, but his playing time has been restricted due to his knack of picking up regular injuries.

He has registered eight goals and five assists from 25 appearances this term, but he has also missed 27 games due to two different injury concerns.

The Spaniard has had similar issues in the previous two seasons, during which time he has been on the sidelines for 41 games for Leipzig.

This is a huge warning sign for the Red Devils. The club should avoid making a huge outlay on another injury-prone player this summer.

The club have already had plenty of issues with Lisandro Martinez since his arrival from Ajax in 2022.

Mason Mount has been another frustrating signing for them. The Englishman has been out of action for 27 games during his debut season at United.

Olmo can play anywhere in attack and would add more creativity. However, United should stay away from him due to his poor injury record.
