Four Arsenal stars have been nominated for the Premier League end-of-season awards.
The Gunners are currently top of the league standings with 83 points from 36 games played.
Mikel Arteta’s side will be aiming to end the season with two more wins, but Manchester City could still lift the title. They are one point behind with a game in hand.
Arsenal’s efforts over the season have been recognised with four Premier League nominations.
William Saliba and Bukayo Saka are in contention for the Young Player of the Year award.
Saliba has had another exceptional season and he is the only outfield player alongside Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Max Kilman to play every minute over 36 games.
The Frenchman has helped the Gunners to keep 17 clean sheets – more than any other defender this term.
Saliba has been brilliant with his ball playing ability. He has completed 93 percent of his passes and made 5.8 recoveries per league outing.
His injury setback last season saw the Gunners’ downturn in league form in the final months. The 23-year-old has come back stronger this term, staying unscathed.
Saka is also on the nomination list for the Young Player of the Year award.
The Gunners graduate has had his best-ever scoring return for the Gunners. He has registered 16 goals and nine assists from 34 league appearances.
The Englishman has been a key catalyst behind the club’s title charge, and it is surprising that he has not been nominated for the Player of the Year accolade.
Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard have received nominations for the Premier League Player of the Year alongside six more candidates including Manchester City’s Erling Braut Haaland.
Rice joined the Gunners after a huge outlay of £105 million last summer. The midfielder started the campaign as a defensive midfielder under manager Mikel Arteta.
He has recently played more centrally with Jorginho or Thomas Partey occupying the number eight role. This has increased Rice’s goal contributions.
He is on seven goals and nine assists in the league season. Odegaard has 16 goal contributions for Arsenal, but the captain has led by example in the final third.
The Norwegian has been fantastic with his regular high pressing and has created 94 chances in the Premier League this term – only Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has managed more.
If Arsenal were to win the Premier League, Odegaard should be the favourite for the award. Haaland or Phil Foden are more likely to win it if Man City retain the title.
