Fabrizio Romano: Arsenal star set to sign new deal after Edu & Arteta agreement

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho will sign a new deal until June 2025, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian midfielder was due to be out of contract at the club this summer and has been linked with a return to Italy. However, Jorginho will remain with Arsenal for one more campaign.

Gunners sporting director Edu and manager Mikel Arteta wanted to retain Jorginho beyond this season, and he is also more than happy to continue plying his trade with the Premier League leaders.

The 32-year-old has featured in 23 league games this term and has been a crucial member of the squad on and off the pitch.

His leadership has come in handy on the touchline and Arsenal know he still has plenty to offer them.

Jorginho brings much-needed quality and experience to the table, and the Gunners need him next term as they aim to challenge strongly across all competitions.

Keeping the Italian makes sense given the fitness struggles of Ghana international midfielder Thomas Partey.

Arsenal may be open to selling the former Atletico Madrid star this summer having opted to retain Jorginho.

The club are expected to further bolster their squad this summer to boost their chances of beating Manchester City to the Premier League title next term.
