Arsenal ‘favourites’ to sign Zirkzee, €60m fee ‘not a problem’

Arsenal are considered favourites to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee ahead of Juventus and AC Milan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Gunners are likely to sign a new centre-forward during this summer’s transfer window and have constantly been linked with Zirkzee since the beginning of the year.

Gazzetta dello Sport (page 12) claim that Juventus and Milan are among his admirers. The former are particularly keen on signing him from their Serie A counterparts.

However, the Gunners have more financial power and the €60 million asking price would not be a problem for them this summer.

Zirkzee may not be the solution for Arsenal

The Dutchman has had a progressive season with Bologna. He has registered 12 goals and seven assists from 35 appearances in all competitions for his club.

The 22-year-old has played a big part in their surprise push for Champions League football. This is a prime reason why Bologna want a premium fee.

They have set their price tag based on his potential, but the Gunners should avoid signing him and focus on a more accomplished striker.

Kai Havertz has a similar goal contribution tally (19) to Zirkzee for Arsenal this season despite starting only one-third of his games from the number nine role.

Arsenal need someone who can take them to the next level and make them favourites to win the league.

The Gunners need a prolific to progress further. Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres would be a much better acquisition, but he could cost much more.
