Feyenoord striker could be the perfect Harry Kane replacement for Tottenham

One of Tottenham Hotspur’s priorities this summer will be to finally land a long-term replacement for Harry Kane, who left for Bayern Munich last year.

Spurs recouped around £100 million for the departure of their club legend but opted against landing a suitable replacement, with Heung-min Son and Richarlison shouldering the goalscoring burden.

Both forwards have done admirably well to fire Spurs to within touching distance of the Champions League places, scoring 26 Premier League goals combined.

However, Ange Postecoglou is keen to bolster his striking options this summer, which would go a long way in bridging the gap between Spurs and the top three.

Tottenham’s extensive shortlist contains several targets, but Santiago Gimenez could be the perfect striker for Postecoglou’s fast-paced attacking brand of football.

The Mexican centre-forward reportedly attended Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat against Arsenal in the north London derby last weekend.

Gimenez has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League after his goalscoring exploits with Feyenoord.

Spurs must beat Arsenal to sign the 23-year-old marksman, who has set the Dutch top flight ablaze with his goalscoring prowess this season.

Gimenez has notched 21 goals in 29 league appearances, just five short of Son and Richarlison’s combined tally. However, his numbers could easily be more, considering he has missed a staggering 23 big chances.

Despite this, he is one of the most prolific strikers in Europe, and his injury record further underscores why Spurs must loosen their purse strings to get a deal over the line.

The Mexico international has only missed one game due to injury. Considering Spurs have been ravaged by injuries this season, Gimenez’s record offers a much-needed reprieve.

The Feyenoord striker is valued at £39m by Transfermarkt, but the Dutch giants are expected to demand significantly more, given he still has two and a half years remaining on his contract.

He boasts all the necessary tools to not only slot seamlessly into Postecoglou’s system but could also prove to be the point of difference for Spurs in the long term.
