Wolves could sell star to ‘fund shock transfer’ for Arsenal goalkeeper

Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen on signing Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale during the summer transfer window, according to the Sun.

The Midlands club are open to selling Portuguese goalie Jose Sa amid continued interest from the Saudi Pro League, with his agent Jorge Mendes close to its transfer power brokers.

Wolves are expected to demand a bumper fee for the 31-year-old to ‘fund shock transfer’ for Ramsdale.

The Arsenal star has been relegated to the bench since David Raya’s arrival on loan from Brentford last summer and is set to leave for greener pastures in the next transfer window.

Ramsdale’s international career has been dealt a huge blow, and there are no guarantees he will be included in the England squad for the European Championship this summer.

Leaving Arsenal for Wolves could be a huge boost for his future with the Three Lions as it would allow him to fight for the starting berth in the national team.

Ramsdale will not be short of suitors this summer, but only a move to a club where he is guaranteed a place in the starting line-up will appeal to him.

He is still capable of being a number one for most Premier League and top European sides despite manager Mikel Arteta opting for someone better with the ball at his feet.

Ramsdale was a key player for the Gunners after he became the first choice ahead of Bernd Leno following his arrival from Sheffield United in a £30 million deal in 2021.

However, Arsenal will unlikely stand in his way if he expresses an interest in leaving.
